Dr. Yaman Sami Shareef

Dr. Yaman Sami Shareef is the Senior Faculty in area of Civil Engineering at Engineering Unit of OE Division, NSRIC. Dr Yaman Al-Kamaki is a member of the civil engineering teaching staff at the University of Duhok (UoD) in Kurdistan Region of Iraq. He also holds the position Director of the Research Center, Manager of UoD Moodle at college of Engineering and Member of the main board of The National Universities Ranking (NUR) in KRG at UoD. He also holds a position “Adjunct Faculty”, Assistant Professor, College of Engineering, The American University, Kurdistan (AUK). He received a BSc (Hon 1) degree in civil engineering and MSc in structural engineering from UoD in 2003 and 2008 respectively and PhD degrees in structural engineering from Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia in 2015. He was sponsored by his government to undertake PhD studies in structural engineering at Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia. He commenced in November 2011 and successfully completed his PhD in October 2015. Prior to joining UoD in November 2016 as a Lecturer, he was a member of Department of Civil and Construction Engineering teaching staff at Swinburne University of Technology. During his time at Swinburne, he was engaged in teaching undergraduate subjects particularly Structural Mechanics and a member of Blackboard (e-Learning) Instructors. He also undertook marking of assignments and acted as a specialist tutor. He also worked full time in the Smart Structures Laboratory at Swinburne University of Technology for more than one year, from August 2015 to November 2016. He helped with preparatory experimental work and assisted other postgraduate students in the use of complex equipment and data analysis techniques. During his time in Melbourne, he was an active member of the Australian Kurdish Community and he tirelessly served community members including new arrival refugees. Over the past 10 years, he focused his research and practice on lifetime integrity of reinforced concrete (RC) structures, particularly in the area of structural strength assessment and retrofitting using advanced composite materials.
He currently leads a number of research projects on concrete strengthening using fiber reinforced polymers. To date, he published over 20 journal and conference papers.
